Bosch heat pump fault-code guide
A source-led guide to identifying a Bosch Compress 3000 water heater, reading its controller, and taking the correct Australian support route.
Evidence reviewed . 2 of 2 registered Bosch models currently have an evidence-backed code mapping.
Finding the Bosch model and rating plate
Start with the rating plate on the water heater, not with the tank’s general appearance. Bosch’s captured Compress 3000 instructions explicitly tell installers to compare the available electrical supply with the markings on that plate. For this guide, preserve every character in the model line: the two source manuals name HP 270-1E 0 FOV/S and HP 270-2E 0 FOOV/S. A photograph of the whole plate is more useful than a handwritten abbreviation because the middle generation number and the FOV/FOOV ending determine which document and fault table apply.

What the Compress 3000 controller shows
Both captured Compress 3000 publications describe an electronic user interface on the appliance, but they are separate document generations. The display normally communicates operating information and changes to an error message when the control detects a protected or failed condition. That distinction matters when recording a screen: note the exact characters, whether an icon is lit, and whether the indication persists, without opening the housing. The manuals reserve internal electrical checks, thermal-cut-out work and refrigeration assessment for qualified service personnel, so the display should be treated as a reporting interface rather than a repair invitation.

How Bosch faults are presented
The HP 270-1E manual publishes its fault and protection indications across PDF pages 40 and 41, while the HP 270-2E manual places its corresponding material on pages 48 and 49. The tables mix conditions that stop operation with protection events and service-oriented diagnostics, so the visible code must be matched against the correct manual before interpreting it. This site does not transfer a meaning merely because the same letters appear in the other generation. Record the code exactly as displayed and use the model-specific result page to retain that source boundary.

HP 270-1 and HP 270-2 are separate evidence families
The public evidence supports two exact Bosch mappings, not a generic Compress code list. HP 270-1E 0 FOV/S is tied to the older Compress 3000 DW FO instructions, and HP 270-2E 0 FOOV/S is tied to the DW FOOV publication. Their fault material appears at different page locations and is captured under different document hashes. Owners should therefore resist shortening the plate to “Bosch 270”; doing so discards the only information that selects the correct controller family. No other Bosch registry model is treated as compatible unless an official scope statement connects it.

Bosch service and warranty route in Australia
Bosch’s current Australian route is its Home Comfort contact centre and warranty-and-servicing page. The official contact page lists the sales and service hotline, while the warranty page links the applicable conditions and assistance route. Bosch asks a caller with a warranty issue to have the invoice and serial number available; that is another reason to photograph the plate before calling. Use the manufacturer channel to locate an authorised service agent and to establish whether an attendance is a warranty assessment. Do not assume that every service visit or external installation problem is covered.
What Bosch information is public—and what is not
The public record used here consists of two captured Bosch manuals, their controller descriptions, and the fault/protection tables printed in those documents. That is enough to publish model-scoped meanings and manual page citations. It is not evidence for dealer-only tests, undocumented firmware behavior, board-level procedures, or a shared dictionary for every Bosch heat pump. The manuals also direct qualified people to investigate high-temperature and electrical conditions. Accordingly, this guide explains identification and evidence boundaries; it does not recreate technician procedures or infer specifications for similarly named appliances that the captured manuals never list.
