Evidence before publication

Methodology

Our model directory and our fault meanings come from different evidence. Every published code must survive automated agreement, literal source checks, and ongoing human-sampled quality assurance.

Sources and model scope

The Australian model registry starts with the Clean Energy Regulator’s public air-source heat-pump register. A register listing identifies a model; it does not prove that fault meanings are available for that model.

Fault meanings come only from official, publicly accessible manufacturer manuals or support material. We use no login-only sources. We retain a dated byte snapshot, SHA-256 fingerprint, document metadata, extracted text, and a page-specific literal anchor for each published row.

We paraphrase source meanings instead of copying tables, diagrams, or long passages. Each result cites and links its official source, and codesets are mapped only to models named by evidence.

Extraction and human-sampled QA

  1. 1.Two independent language-model passes propose rows from the same captured document.
  2. 2.The normalised rows must agree exactly. The code, meaning fragment, and evidence anchor must also occur literally on the claimed PDF page.
  3. 3.Any disagreement, missing row, duplicate, or failed anchor is quarantined and receives no public route.
  4. 4.A human reviews a random 10% sample of published rows per codeset against a side-by-side source-page report. Problems are corrected or unpublished.

Local rules only

Severity and wording rules

Severity is never generated freely by a model. Fixed keyword rules assignred to source language about lockout, leaks, electrical issues, refrigerant, or overheating; amberto “contact service”, persistent faults, and unknown cases; andgreen to informational or status displays.

Meanings use “documented as” or “usually indicates”. A licensed technician confirms the actual cause. Power-cycle wording appears only when the source explicitly supports it; we do not invent per-code repair instructions.

Based on Clean Energy Regulator material licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. We derive the site registry from the regulator’s air-source heat-pump data by preserving exact model numbers, normalising cosmetic brand variants, and aggregating repeated register identifiers.
