Stiebel Eltron heat pump fault-code guide

STIEBEL ELTRON’s WWK 222/302 controller combines service symbols, additive numeric faults and E-codes, making the type-plate model essential.

Evidence reviewed . 4 of 11 registered Stiebel Eltron models currently have an evidence-backed code mapping.

Use the type plate for WWK identity and serial

The captured operation and installation manual covers WWK 222, WWK 222 H, WWK 302 and WWK 302 H. It tells an owner contacting a contractor about a fault to provide the serial number from the type plate. Copy the spacing and H suffix exactly; H is part of the model identity even though all four units share this publication. A photograph of the type plate and the complete appliance display gives the service team both scope and symptom. Do not infer that a different WWK, SHP or heat-pump family uses this control simply because STIEBEL ELTRON branding is the same.

The LC display reports volume, temperature, symbols and faults

WWK units have an electronic control unit with an LC display. The manual describes the default mixed-water-volume view, set and actual temperatures, air-intake temperature, component-demand symbols and a Service/fault symbol. Continuous illumination and flashing have different operational implications, while a symbol for a demanded component does not itself prove that component is running. For a useful report, photograph the symbol state and any numeric or E-prefixed value together. The ordinary owner menu can reveal a fault code; deeper service-menu and component work belongs to the qualified contractor identified by the manual.

WWK numeric faults can be additive

The owner fault table begins on PDF page 15, with additional E fault codes on page 16. STIEBEL ELTRON explains that several numeric faults can be added together; for example, simultaneous underlying values can produce a combined displayed number. It also describes an emergency-mode increment of 256 in specified circumstances. Those rules make a generic single-number internet lookup especially risky. Record the exact total and whether the Service/fault key is steady or flashing. This site publishes the documented rows but does not treat explanatory example sums or manually activated emergency status as independent faults.

Four WWK variants share scope; other app families do not

WWK 222, 222 H, 302 and 302 H are explicitly named together on the source cover and therefore share this verified display namespace. The common scope is manual evidence, not a similarity assumption. Other registry entries, including SHP-O-related products, are not mapped from the WWK table. The captured manual also indicates that some installer access and programming is service-oriented, while the available public owner display exposes the WWK fault view. Keep the boundary clear: a shared manufacturer and heat-pump principle do not prove shared firmware, app credentials or code arithmetic across product families.

Use STIEBEL ELTRON’s service and warranty forms

STIEBEL ELTRON Australia’s contact page provides quick enquiry, service-request and warranty-request routes. Its warranty page publishes product-specific information and directs warranty questions to the Australian contact channel. The WWK warranty appendix lists the model number, problem description, owner and installation address, serial, purchase and installation details among the information required for a claim. Prepare those fields, a type-plate image and the display photograph before submitting. Ask the company to confirm the current terms for the exact WWK and use; domestic and commercial coverage can differ, and a displayed code alone does not decide eligibility.

WWK owner diagnostics are public; installer access is not inferred

The public WWK manual supplies unusually precise owner-facing material: default display behavior, Service/fault symbol states, numeric-code addition, E-code separation, emergency-mode treatment, four-model scope and warranty-claim requirements. Those facts support a substantive guide and anchored code results. They do not expose a cross-family STIEBEL ELTRON dictionary, SHP-O installer credentials, proprietary service tools or safe homeowner access to internal components. The site excludes example arithmetic from the fault count and retains contractor framing. Owners get enough information to report the display accurately, while controller equivalence and repair work remain bounded by the official source.
